The first missing child to have his photo placed on a milk carton was, Etan Patz. The last time he was seen alive was in 1979, when his parents allowed him to walk to the school bus stop for the very first time. The bus stop was only two blocks away from his home in New York City. This incident caused parents allover the United States to take a new look at the protection of their children. Many parents stated that after Etan was taken, they became overly protective and acted like "helicopter" moms. During the time of his disappearance, President Regan made May 25th National Missing Child's Day in his honer. Now, the New York Police Department and the FBI were to begin digging up the concrete floor in a building basement in Manhattan just down the block from the last place Patz was seen. The NYPD are looking for any forensic evidence in the basement floor to see if that is where he was buried. The Authorities have a very good optimistic feeling that the search will be successful. The next step in the process, if the search is successful in the findings of Patz, is to find any leads to whom is the suspect.
